dc.description.abstractVarious methods and techniques are used to improve students' performance in essay writing at primary schools in Brunei Darussalam. This study aims to identify the extent to which Story Map technique improves students’ performance and knowledge in writing a pictorial composition. Year 3 students from one of the government schools in Brunei and Muara District, Brunei Darussalam are involved in this action research study. The findings of the study were analyzed descriptively by using the mean results in the pre-test and post-test. In addition, the findings were also analyzed using content analysis. The results of the study show that this technique is able to improve student achievement and help students write well, but this technique is not suitable to be used to help students overcome the problem of building grammatical sentences and overcoming spelling problems.
dc.description.abstractPelbagai kaedah dan teknik digunakan untuk meningkatkan pencapaian murid dalam penulisan karangan di sekolah rendah di Negara Brunei Darussalam. Kajian ini bertujuan untuk mengenal pasti sejauhmana penggunaan teknik Peta Cerita meningkatkan prestasi dan pengetahuan murid dalam penulisan karangan bergambar. Murid Tahun 3 dari salah sebuah sekolah rendah kerajaan di Daerah Brunei dan Muara, Negara Brunei Darussalam terlibat dalam kajian tindakan ini. Dapatan kajian dianalisis secara deskriptif dengan menggunakan keputusan min dalam praujian dan pascaujian. Selain itu, hasil karangan murid juga dianalisis menggunakan analisis kandungan. Hasil dapatan kajian menunjukkan bahawa teknik ini mampu meningkatkan pencapaian murid dan membantu murid menulis dengan baik tetapi teknik ini tidak sesuai digunakan untuk membantu murid mengatasai masalah membina ayat gramatis dan mengatasi masalah ejaan.
